The data requirements for these notifications range from simple characterisation to physicochemical, human health and ecotoxicological data. Data requirements are determined based on substance type, volume being imported and whether the substance is listed on the Canadian Domestic Substance List (DSL) or the Non-Domestic Substance List (NDSL). Supplemental data may be requested by the Canadian authorities if the substance in question is subject to a significant new activity which may result in the substance becoming toxic.
Importers or manufacturers of substances in Canada are required to submit New Substance Notification Packages before import/manufacture can begin.
If you are a Canadian importer or manufacturer of a substance in excess of 100 kg/pa and you have questions about your obligation to notify the Canadian authorities, please contact our experts at info@h2compliance.com.
